Month #1 of building a Notion business: Lessons, wins and what’s next 🎂
#5: Access ALL my FREE Notion templates and resources!
Hi,
We’re already one month into building this Notion biz! Well, 1 month and 14 days but you know, it’s the end of the first FULL month, so I thought I’d share a recap.
First, thank you for subscribing to this newsletter and following my adventures, there are already 19 subscribers and I couldn't be happier to have you around!
Second, if I had to sum this first month up in one word? Momentum.
I’ve gone from brainstorming ideas to launching templates, from mapping out strategies to landing my first coaching client. It’s been a month of wins, lessons, aaaaand a few humbling reality checks.
Building something from scratch is equal parts exciting and overwhelming, but every step forward fuels the next. Here’s what I’ve learned so far, what’s working, and what’s next.
+ I’ve listed all the free Notion templates and guides I’ve shared this month just below this month’s highlights!
This month’s highlights 🎯
Two weeks traveling through Northern Europe (by train!) to see the Northern Lights
One of the reasons I wanted to build my own business was for freedom, to explore, to slow down, to work in a way that aligns with my life rather than the other way around. So I did exactly that. Two weeks. Northern Europe. Trains. Snow. The Northern Lights.
When you’re deep in building something new, it’s easy to get caught up in the pressure of making it work now. But watching the sky light up in green reminded me that some things take time. And that doesn’t make them any less magical when they finally happen.
Did I get as much work done as I originally planned? No. But I came back with fresh energy, new ideas, and a reminder of why I’m doing this in the first place, to build a life that gives me the space to experience moments like these.
Over 200 downloads on my Business SMART Goals and KPIs Tracker
One of the biggest challenges in business? Tracking progress, not just setting goals. That’s why I created this template, to make goal-setting practical, not just aspirational. Seeing 200+ downloads tells me that this is something you need. The takeaway? You don’t just want structure, you want structure that helps you take action.
First coaching client
I’ve built Notion systems for myself and for businesses, but this was my first time working one-on-one to refine a system that wasn’t working as well as it could have been.
Discovery calls for consulting projects
I used to think I had to have everything perfectly mapped out before jumping on calls with potential clients. But I’ve learned that clarity comes from conversation. Every call helped me refine my offer, understand what people actually need, and get more comfortable talking about the value I bring (not saying I’m 100% comfortable, but we’re getting there).
Launched my newsletter (and actually stayed consistent! Well kind of, the timing still needs to be refined a little)
I knew I wanted to start a newsletter, but the idea of writing every week felt huge, until I built a Notion system to make it easier. Now, I have a clear process for capturing ideas, drafting, and scheduling emails, and for the first time, I’m staying 99% consistent.
Started accountability calls with a friend to keep myself on track
Building something solo means you can do it all yourself, but that doesn’t mean you should. Having a space (and a friend) to check in, share progress, and get that extra nudge when I start overthinking has been a game-changer.
Pushed past resistance and posted my first Reels
I put this off for so long. But the reality? No one’s looking for perfect, they’re looking for helpful. The only way to get comfortable with something is to actually do it, so I did. And guess what? It wasn’t nearly as scary as I thought.
